Valley Visa Airport

Johnson Valley Airfield is listed on the aircraft charts as Valley Vista Airport. The elevation is 3370 ft. above sea level. The two runways are dirt strip and placed in the shape of an "X", with one running North and South, while the cross wind runway runs East and West.

The North-South runway is quite uphill to the south and is close to the takeoff ability of some aircraft, so landing uphill and taking off downhill is recommended.

Johnson Valley Airfield is home to the flying club "Valley Vista Flyers" and offers a very inexpensive way to learn how to fly. "There is a one time membership fee of $750 which is refunded if you decide to sell your membership. There is also a $250 club fee. Monthly fees are only $15 and go towards the fixed fees such as the annual inspection and insurance. The per hour price to rent the 172 Cessna is about half what it would cost at other places. There is currently one membership available. If interested call Roger at 760-364-2514 or email him at rjtaylor1@juno.com

The airport itself is listed as restricted so nonmembers are not covered by our insurance and land here at their own risk. No one person owns the airport, only the adjoining 5 acre parcels are privately owned. The Valley Vista Airport is a valuable asset for Johnson Valley as it could be used in an emergency if there was a need for a hellio to land and medivac someone out.
